Born in Costa Rica, raised and educated in the US, Dr. Yosef Gotlieb has made his home in Israel since 1984. The author of Rise, A Novel of Contemporary Israel (‘Atida Press, 2011) he is a writer of both prose fiction and poetry. His published works include Self-Determination in the Middle East, Development, Environment and Global Dysfunction, and numerous monographs and articles.
Yosef Gotlieb's most recent work is a novel entitled A Private Passage completed in August 2015 and dealing with the spiritual and psychological journey undergone by the protagonist as he desperately awaits for an organ transpant, his only chance o survival.
A geographer specializing in global change and international development, Dr. Gotlieb is an experienced lecturer on a broad range of topics relating to Israel, the Middle East, global affairs and sustainability. He has taught at Clark University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, David Yellin College of Education in Jerusalem and has been affiliated with the Truman Institute for the Advancement of Peace at the Hebrew University.
Yosef Gotlieb lives with his family in the Jerusalem area.
